    The Grand Rapids Griffins have signed veteran forward Daniel Cleary to a one-year contract and Ryan Sproul to a two-year contract. During his first season with the Griffins in 2015-16 and first in the American Hockey League since 1999-00, Cleary played in 35 games for Grand Rapids and contributed 15 points (3-12—15).   • AHL preseason begins Oct. 5

    Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced that Executive Director of Player Personnel John Ferguson will also serve as General Manager of the Providence Bruins. Ferguson is entering his third season in the Bruins organization in 2016-17, having spent the last two seasons as the team’s Executive Director of Personnel.     The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that forward Colin Markison has agreed to terms on a one-year, American Hockey League contract for the 2016-17 season. Markison, 24, spent the majority of last season with the Sound Tigers, recording 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and a plus-6 rating in 39 games.
