The St. John’s IceCaps wrapped up a 10-game holiday road trip this past week with three games against divisional rivals. The IceCaps picked up three of a possible six points in during the week, and left the road trip with a 5-2-2-1 record.

Wednesday, January 4th, 2017 | Albany 6 vs. St. John’s 2

ALBANY, NY – The St. John’s IceCaps fell 6-2 to the Albany Devils at the Times Union Center on Wednesday night.

Albany was aggressive on the forecheck, potting goals early in both the first and second period to take a 2-0 lead. Nikita Scherbak scored his tenth of the season (from Jacob de la Rose and Jonathan Racine) to cut the lead in half.

Friday, January 6th, 2017 | Binghamton 2 vs. St. John’s 1 – SO

BINGHAMTON, NY – The St. John’s IceCaps picked up a point in a 2-1 shootout loss against the Binghamton Senators at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena on Friday night.

Chris Rumble of the Senators potted a power play tally late in the first to take a 1-0 lead that would last until IceCaps’ Markus Eisenschmid tied it up with just over two minutes left in the final frame to send it to overtime, and eventually to a shootout. Max Friberg and Julien Brouillette picked up the helpers on the equalizer.

Saturday, January 7th, 2016  | St. John’s 2 vs. Syracuse 1 – OT

SYRACUSE, NY – Daniel Audette scored in overtime as the St. John’s IceCaps shaded the Syracuse Crunch 2-1 Saturday night at the Onondaga County War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, New York.

Anthony Camara, in only his second game with the IceCaps, staked St. John’s to a 1-0 lead at the 18:33 mark of the first period. Julien Brouillette recorded the assist. The Crunch tied the game at 13:46 of the second and a scoreless third set the stage for Audette’s overtime heroics at 1:24 of extra time. Brouillette and Stefan Matteau assisted on the game-winner.
