The St. John’s IceCaps fight to stay alive this weekend as they are facing elimination down 2-1 in the best-of-five series. All games so far have been decided by one goal.


The St. John’s IceCaps rallied back from a 2-0 deficit  in the second period to tie it up, but the go-ahead goal from Byron Froese with less than four minutes to play in the middle frame stood as the game-winner as the Syracuse Crunch edged the St. John’s IceCaps 3-2 and took a 2-1 series lead. Zach Redmond and Stefan Matteau scored for the IceCaps. Joel Vermin and Erik Condra also tallied for the Crunch. Charlie Lindgren stopped 22 shots between the pipes for St. John’s. Mike McKenna turned aside 26 for Syracuse.


St. John’s
Canadiens 1st round pick Noah Juulsen played his first professional game Wednesday night. Michael McCarron suited up for the IceCaps Wednesday night for the first time since February 15th after being reassigned to St. John’s following the conclusion of Montreal’s playoff run. Charles Hudon has a point in all three games of the series so far and leads the team with four points. Stefan Matteau leads the team in goals with two.

Matt Taormina leads all Crunch players in scoring with four points. Tye McGinn leads the Crunch in goals with two. Brett Howden has assists in back-to-back games. Jake Dotchin leads all players in penalty minutes in the series with ten.
