The St. John’s IceCaps wrap up their six-game road with two matchups in Upstate New York before returning to Mile One Centre to kick off an eight-game home stand beginning March 17th. The IceCaps are 2-2 through the first four games of the road trip.
Cory Conacher had a four-point night as the Syracuse Crunch doubled up on the St. John’s IceCaps 4-2 Wednesday at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena. Captain Max Friberg and Stefan Matteau scored for St. John’s. Conacher had a pair for Syracuse, and Adam Comrie and Tye McGinn also tallied. Charlie Lindgren stopped 23-of-26 shots for the IceCaps. Kristers Gudlevskis stopped 25-of-27 for the Crunch.

The IceCaps have the worst penalty kill in the Eastern Conference at 78.3%. Jacob de la Rose has three points in the last four games (2G, 1A). Stefan Matteau has points in three straight games. Bobby Farnham is fourth in penalty minutes in the AHL with 120. Charles Hudon is one point away from 150 career points. Charlie Lindgren leads rookie goalies in games played with 39.
The Amerks have wins in back-to-back games. Rochester lost their captain Cal O’Reilly Wednesday at the AHL trade deadline when he was assigned to the Toronto Marlies. Alexander Nylander has four points in the last four games. Cole Schneider is on a two-game point streak. Mat Bodie is one regular season game shy of 200. Linus Ullmark leads goalies in games played with 45.
The Crunch lead the Eastern Conference in shorthanded goals with 10. Cory Conacher has 13 points in the last 10 games, and is tied for third in league scoring with 51 points. Matthew Peca has five points in the last five games. Former IceCap Stefan Fournier is now a member of the Crunch. Fournier played 24 games last season with St. John’s and was a part of the John Scott trade. Kristers Gudlevskis has won two straight games and sports a save percentage of 0.946 in those games.

Charlie Lindgren turned aside all 29 shots he faced as the St. John’s IceCaps blanked the Rochester Americans 3-0 at the Blue Cross Arena. Jacob de la Rose, Brett Lernout, and Nikita Scherbak tallied for St. John’s. Bobby Farnham and Daniel Audette picked up two assists for a multi-point night. Linus Ullmark stopped 24-of-27 shots for Rochester.
