The St. John’s IceCaps return home to Mile One Centre after a six-game road swing as they prepare to face the division-leading Manchester Monarchs for a two-game set Friday and Saturday. The IceCaps will wear a brand new third jersey for the first time.

LAST GAME: Worcester Sharks’ starting goaltender Troy Grosenick stymied the IceCaps and stopped all 27 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season as the IceCaps dropped the last game of their six-game road trip 3-0 at the DCU Center in Worcester. Daniil Tarasov and Sena Acolatse paced the Monarchs to a 2-0 lead by the 7:37 mark of the second period before Curt Gogol put the game away with an empty-net goal with just under two minutes remaining in the third period.

HEAD-TO-HEAD LEADERS:
STJ: Andrew Gordon 3 PTS (2G, 1A) | Eric O’Dell 3 PTS (3A) | Kael Mouillierat 2 PTS (1G, 1A) | Eddie Pasquale (1-0-0, 2.00)
MCH: x Tyler Toffoli 4 PTS (2G, 2A) | x Linden Vey 3 PTS (2G, 1A) | Jordan Weal 3 PTS (3A) | Martin Jones (1-1-0, 3.03)

The IceCaps have won two of their last three games on the road and return to Mile One where they sport a record of 2-1-1-0.

Manchester enters the contest on a hot streak, having won three straight dating back to Oct. 26. The Monarchs’ last lost came at the hands of the IceCaps, when Carl Klingberg, Andrew Gordon and Jason Jaffray found the back of the net in a 3-2 victory at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester on Oct. 25.

C Eric O’Dell enters the weekend as the IceCaps’ leading scorer with six goals and five assists for 11 points in 12 games played this season. He was held pointless in the team’s last game, a 3-0 loss against the Worcester Sharks.

Despite having just two goals to his credit so far this season, Monarchs’ F Brandon Kozun has crept into the top-15 in American Hockey League scoring thanks to his 11 assists and 13 points.

IceCaps G Eddie Pasquale enters the series boasting a record of five wins and five losses with a 2.42 GAA and 0.925 SV%.

Monarchs’ top G Martin Jones leads the American Hockey League with eight victories to his credit to go along with a 2.02 GAA and 0.933 SV%.

Manchester forward Brandon Kozun scored eight goals in eight games against the IceCaps last season. In two games versus St. John’s this season, he has registered two assists.

After notching one assist in three games with the IceCaps before being released from his PTO, Ian O’Connor signed a PTO with Manchester on Nov. 4 and will likely play his first game as a Monarch against St. John’s on Friday night.
