The St. John’s IceCaps hope to have the luck of the Irish as they kick off an eight-game home stand during St. Patrick’s Day against the Rochester Americans. The weekend series also marks the beginnings of the Let’s Celebrate campaign, commemorating 20 years of the American Hockey League in St. John’s.


Charles Hudon scored the overtime winner 1:40 into the extra frame as the St. John’s IceCaps edged the Syracuse Crunch 3-2 to end their six-game road trip on a high note. Chris Terry and Jacob de la Rose also tallied for St. John’s. Byron Froese and Tye McGinn scored for Syracuse. Yann Danis picked up his tenth win of the season making 31 saves for the IceCaps. Mike McKenna made 28 saves for the Crunch.


St. John’s

St. John’s has 14 games left in the regular season, and 10 of those are on Mile One ice. Josiah Didier has points in each of his last four games. Jacob de la Rose is on a four-game point streak and has scored in three of the four. Brett Lernout has two assists in the last three games. Max Friberg has two goals in the last three games.


Rochester’s game on Wednesday against Binghamton was postponed due to a major storm in New York. Cole Schneider leads the Amerks in scoring with 49 points in 55 games. Alexander Nylander has three points in the last three games. Derek Grant is one regular season game shy of 300 career games.


March 10th – 3-2 STJ

Bobby Farnham and Max Friberg had a goal and an assist each as the St. John’s IceCaps defeated the Rochester Americans 3-2 at the Blue Cross Arena. Jacob de la Rose picked up the other St. John’s goal. Alexander Nylander and Kyle Bonis scored for Rochester. Charlie Lindgren made 18 saves between the pipes for the IceCaps. Linus Ullmark made 30 saves for the Amerks.
