Morrison agrees to contract extension with IceCaps
The Winnipeg Jets are pleased to announce today that assistant coach Mark Morrison has agreed to a contract extension with the St. John’s IceCaps.
Morrison returns to join head coach Keith McCambridge’s coaching staff for the 2012-13 season.
Morrison, 49, joined newly appointed coach McCambridge behind the bench in St. John’s for their first season as the IceCaps. The IceCaps finished first in the Atlantic Division with 94 points (43-25-5-3) and reached the Eastern Conference Finals, where they were eliminated from the playoffs in the third round by the eventual Calder Cup champion Norfolk Admirals.
Morrison began his coaching career in 2005-06 as an Assistant Coach of the Victoria Salmon Kings but took over as the Head Coach after 27 games. Morrison then led the Salmon Kings to a record of 173-133-27 and four playoff series wins during four seasons, before leaving to join the American Hockey League’s newest franchise, the St. John’s IceCaps.
