Jets announce pair of roster moves
The Winnipeg Jets announced a pair of roster moves Saturday, recalling forward Patrice Cormier from the IceCaps and assigning defenceman Derek Meech to St. John’s.
Cormier, 21, has played in three games with the Winnipeg Jets this season. The Moncton, NB native has now played in 24 career NHL games between Atlanta and Winnipeg for a total of two points (1g, 1a) and four penalty minutes.
Cormier has spent the majority of this season with the St. John’s IceCaps where he has played in 31 games for 14 points (9g, 5a) and 40 penalty minutes. He was originally drafted by New Jersey in the second round, 54th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Meech, 26, played in two games with the Winnipeg Jets this season before suffering a lower body injury on Oct. 29/11. The Winnipeg, MB native has played in 128 career NHL games between Detroit and Winnipeg for a total of 16 points (4g, 12a) and 43 penalty minutes.
Meech spent the 2010-11 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL playing in 74 games for 37 points (10g, 27a) and 81 penalty minutes. He was originally drafted by Detroit in the seventh round, 229th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
