It’s a Jamarama Party at the IceCaps game on October 18th! Posted by IceCaps on

Even the IceCaps relish getting home after a game and cozying up in a pair of pajamas. There’s nothing like taking off the gear and donning a pair of flannel footie pajamas.

But it’s not the same when you’re a sick kid and have to stay in pajamas all day because you’re stuck in bed. Like the kids at the Janeway Children’s Hospital.

Jamarama is how we come together as a team to boost their spirits and raise money for the Janeway! And the IceCaps want to do their part to show the heroes at the Janeway that we’re standing by them.

Friday, October 18th is the Jamarama Party at the St. John’s IceCaps game, co-hosted by Jamarama presenting sponsor and IceCaps supporter Johnson Inc.

So on October 18th, lace up your hockey skate slippers and button up your flannel jersey, because it’s the Jamarama Party at Mile One Centre! You’ll not only be cheering for the IceCaps to trounce the Hershey Bears, you’ll be cheering your support for the kids at the Janeway. And we want you to cheer so loud that they will hear it. Plus, there’ll be great contests and prizes!

And October 25th is Jamarama!

The premise is simple: Raise money. Wear PJs. Help kids. But the money raised from this event goes into something big. It supports the Janeway to provide our province’s children with the best quality health care. From state of the art equipment, to continuing education and training for staff, to vital research, and various health education programs.

On October 25th, pajamas aren’t the mark of a sick kid. They are the uniform to show support for all the little champs at the hospital and we’re all wearing them to raise money for the Janeway.

“Jamarama is focused on pajamas and everything they represent,” says Lynn Sparkes, Executive Director of the Janeway Foundation. “We are turning pajamas into a symbol of support, strength and courage. It is our way of saying to the children of our province ‘We are on your side.’ By wearing their PJs, our community is joining us in showing their support for all our kids.”

This year, Johnson Inc. joined the fundraising first line by becoming the presenting sponsor for Jamarama. Johnson Inc. has been a long-time supporter of the Janeway. They know that when children have the best possible care, everyone benefits.

“The hospital is close to our hearts,” says Vice President of Marketing Brian King, “for the fine care that they provide to our employees’ children — and kids across the province.”

Johnson Inc. values the important services offered and work performed at the Janeway, and as a member of the community, they are proud to step up and make sure hospital can keep doing what it’s doing, for all our kids, and really for all of us.

“In today’s world,” says Senior Vice President of Growth Initiatives John Thompson, “with rising costs and limited resources, it is a challenge for hospitals like the Janeway to fund the vital medical equipment, educational health programs and medical research needed to care for the children of our province when they need it most. The special care that the Janeway provides would not be possible without the support they receive from the community.”

So at the IceCaps game on October 18th and for Jamarama on October 25th, wear the Jamarama uniform, your most outrageous PJs, and raise a cheer and some money for the home team — the kids at the Janeway.
