IceCaps To Grow Moustaches in Support of Men’s Health Posted by IceCaps on
The St. John’s IceCaps will once again celebrate Movember, a month-long men’s health awareness initiative, throughout the month of November.
All IceCaps players will participate by sporting moustaches during the month. Fans can check out bi-weekly photo updates of their favourite players and their moustaches at www.stjohnsicecaps.com . In addition, fans can make donations to the cause by visiting www.movember.com. The IceCaps will post men’s health facts on our website, moustache trivia and facts on their Facebook and Twitter pages, photos on their Instagram page and promotional messages on the video board during home games in November.
Men are encouraged to sport their own moustache and join the IceCaps in their efforts to raise awareness for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer and mental health. An annual event, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world.
On Movember 1st, men register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these men raise awareness and funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts. Participants effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
