IceCaps sign Julian Melchiori to ATO
The St. John’s IceCaps today announced they have signed defenceman Julian Melchiori to amateur tryout contract.
Melchiori, 20, played 26 games with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL where he recorded 17 assists and 22 penalty minutes. He started the season with the Kitchener Rangers, playing in 35 games and recording 19 points (2G, 17A) and 42 penalty minutes.
He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the third round, 87th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Melchiori will join the team in time for their game versus the Portland Pirates Wednesday night at Mile One Centre.
