IceCaps release O’Brien from ATO Posted by IceCaps on

The St. John’s IceCaps today announced they have released forward Zach O’Brien from his amateur tryout contract.

O’Brien, 19, played in one game with the IceCaps since signing on Apr. 5, 2012. This season, he played in 63 games with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In that time, the St. John’s, NL native recorded a record-breaking season scoring 101 points (50G, 51A). His 50 goals on the season lead the league for the 2011-12 season.
