IceCaps release Joey Sides from PTO
The St. John’s IceCaps announced today they have released forward Joey Sides from his professional tryout contract.
Sides, 26, signed a PTO with St. John’s on Apr. 13/12 after the Colorado Eagles had been eliminated from the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs. Sides did not appear in a game for St. John’s while with the team during the Calder Cup Playoffs. Prior to joining the IceCaps, he played in three playoff games for Colorado collecting one goal and eight penalty minutes.
The native of Sun Valley, ID played part of the 2011-12 season for the Heerenveen Flyers in Holland before joining Colorado in early February. After joining the Eagles for the remainder of the ECHL season, Sides recorded 29 points (15G, 14A) and 45 penalty minutes in 29 games.
