IceCaps Forecast Whiteout Conditions in St. John’s Posted by IceCaps on

Whiteout pregame

With playoff fever sweeping the City of St. John’s and the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, the St. John’s IceCaps will once again carry on the whiteout tradition launched during the club’s playoff run two seasons ago.

In addition to requesting fans dress in white at Mile One Centre at each home game, the IceCaps are also asking fans in the metro area to show their support whether at work, at school or at home throughout the IceCaps march toward the Calder Cup.

There are three ways to win:

  1. Fans can enter to win prizes on Twitter and Instagram by posting a picture of themselves at work or school on game days wearing IceCaps gear, then tagging the IceCaps and using the hashtag #WeStandTogether. Lucky winners will receive a visit from the IceCaps Street Team who will deliver prizes such as jerseys, sticks, pucks, and tickets.
  2. Fans can also luck-in to win playoff tickets by following the IceCaps on social media. On every home game day the team will release the secret location of their Street Team.  The first fan to find them and yell “We Stand Together” will win a pair of tickets.
  3. Additionally, a life-size cut-out of team captain Jason Jaffray will be placed at various locations around the city on game days.  Fans that Tweet or Instagram a picture of the cut-out and tag the IceCaps while using the hashtag #WeStandTogether are eligible to win various prizes, including IceCaps playoff tickets.

The St. John’s IceCaps will face the Albany Devils in the opening round of the 2014 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Playoffs. The series, which pits the fourth-place IceCaps against the fifth-place Devils, will begin with two games at Times Union Center in Albany, New York on Friday and Saturday. Both games are slated for 8:30 pm. (NT)

The best-of-five series shifts to St. John’s for game three on Apr. 30. Games four and five – if necessary – will be played on May 2 and May 3, respectively. All three home games are scheduled for 7:30 pm (NT).

Tickets are available for all first round games at the Mile One Centre Box Office, and can be purchased in-person (Monday-Sunday from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.), by phone at 709-576-7657 (Monday-Sunday from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) or online at www.mileonecentre.com.
