Olkinuora posts his first pro shutout

Jussi Olkinuora posted his first pro shutout to lead the St. John’s IceCaps to their third straight victory, 3-0 over the Hamilton Bulldogs Saturday night at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario.

After a scoreless first period, Kael Mouillierat converted a Jerome Samson rebound for his sixth goal of the season at 7:48 of the second stanza. Patrice Cormier picked up the other assist. The IceCaps went up 2-0 about seven minutes later on a beautiful breakaway goal by Carl Klingberg who finished the play with a nifty deke. The goal was Klingberg’s fifth in the last six games. Brenden Kichton and JC Lipon had the helpers.

Eric O’Dell collected the game’s final goal as he knocked home a Kichton rebound past Bulldogs goalie Dustin Tokarski at 3:54 of the third. Andrew Gordon had the other assist.

The IceCaps next make a quick trip to Toronto Sunday afternoon to face the Marlies (4:30 PM NT).
