The IceCaps (31-34-2-4, 68 PTS) go for three straight wins when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (40-28-2-2) at Mile One Centre Saturday night.

LAST GAME: APR 10: STJ 4 POR 3 | The IceCaps held on to down the Pirates 4-3 Wednesday night at Mile One Centre to sweep the two-game set. Carl Klingberg’s third period goal stood as the game-winner while Kael Mouillierat notched a goal and an assist to go along with a team-high six shots on net. Vinny Saponari added his first pro goal and Jason Jaffray picked up his 15th of the season. Mark Dekanich stood tall for the second consecutive game, making 28 saves for the victory.

PREVIOUS MATCHUPS: Jan 23: WBS 3 STJ 0 he St. John’s IceCaps were blanked 3-0 by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Wednesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena, snapping the team’s season-high four game point streak. Mouillierat leads the IceCaps with 31 assists… F Eric O’Dell has recorded a point in four straight games and 11 of his last 12 games (10-10-20). The sophomore forward has climbed to 16th in AHL scoring with 52 points… F Ben Maxwell picked up his fourth multi-point game in the last seven contests with his two assists in Wednesday’s win over POR… F Vinny Saponari notched his first career goal in the second period of Wednesday’s game. RECENT ACTION: APR 7: WBS 4 HER 3 | Chad Kolarik’s two-goal game helped the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins run their win streak to five games with a 4-3 triumph over the Hershey Bears on Sunday afternoon at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Brad Thiessen made 31 saves on 34 Hershey shots to go 15-11-2 on the season.

QUICK HITS: WBS enters Saturday’s game having won five straight and have not lost in regulation in their last seven outings (6-0-0-1)… The Penguins acquired F Derek Nesbitt from Peoria prior to the AHL’s loan and trade deadline on Wednesday. The veteran of 319 AHL games was leading the Riverman in goals with 26 and was second in points with 47… Six of the Penguins’ last seven games have been decided by one goal.  The team is now 22-9-2-2 in such games and tied with Milwaukee for the most one-goal wins in the AHL… The Penguins held the Albany Devils to just 11 shots on Saturday, breaking their own AHL-season low of 12 set against Norfolk on Feb. 15… The line of Trevor Smith (5G, 7A), Riley Holzapfel (3G, 9A) and Chad Kolarik (6G, 7A) has combined for 37 points over the Penguins’ last 11 games. Holzapfel spent part of the 2011-12 season with St. John’s, playing in 29 games before being traded to the Syracuse Crunch (Anaheim Ducks) for F Max Macenauer… WBS ranks first in the AHL in GAA, second in shots allowed, and second in penalty killing… G Jeff Zatkoff has not allowed more than two goals in seven consecutive starts while going 6-1-0.  He leads the league with a 1.95 goals against average and has won five in a row.
