The St. John’s IceCaps (23-29-1-2, 49 PTS) wrap up their six-game road trip with their third stop in Hamilton to face the Bulldogs (20-26-1-5, 46 PTS) at Copps Coliseum Tuesday night.
LAST GAME: Feb. 24: TOR 5 STJ 4 | The St. John’s IceCaps were defeated by the Toronto Marlies 5-4 Sunday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. Despite sporting the Marlies leads of 4-0 and 5-1, the IceCaps nearly made an incredible comeback, battling back to score three times in the third period but ultimately falling just short. The Marlies scored five times in the second period with first star Jake Gardiner factoring in on three of those tallies, scoring once on the power play and adding two assists. Dylan Yeo and Ryan Hamilton each had a pair of assists for Toronto, while Mark Owuya got the win after stopping 36-of-40 shots. For St. John’s, Kael Mouillierat had a goal and two assists and Dean Arsene had two helpers. Spencer Machacek, Patrice Cormier and Ben Maxwell also scored, while Mark Dekanich was tagged with the loss, making 17 saves. | RECAP

Last Meeting (Dec. 28): HAM 6 STJ 3 | Gabriel Dumont scored a hat trick and added two assists as the Hamilton Bulldogs doubled-up the St. John’s IceCaps 6-3 in American Hockey League action at Copps Coliseum Friday night. Dumont scored a pair of first period goals and added the insurance marker late in the third as the Bulldogs snapped their five-game losing streak and handed the IceCaps their second consecutive loss. ALL HAIL KAEL: Kael Mouillierat recorded seven points (1G, 6A) in just two games this past week. On Wednesday, the Alberta native notched a club-record four assists as the IceCaps dominated the Connecticut Whale 5-1. In addition to setting the team record for most assists in a game, Mouillierat tied the club mark for most points in a game with four. On Sunday, Mouillierat picked up a goal and two assists in a 5-4 loss to Toronto. Mouillierat has one goal in two games vs. Hamilton this season.
INJURY REPORT: Defencemen Ben Chiarot (hip flexor) returned to action and played in both games last week after missing the previous three. Currently injured: Jason King (head), John Albert (upper body), Hunter Tremblay (head), Ivan Telegin (head), Derek Meech (undisclosed), and Ryan Schnell (lower body).
QUICK HITS: The IceCaps have scored four goals or more in three of their last four games, and are 9-1-0-0 when lighting the lamp four times or more in a game … All-time, the IceCaps are 6-5-1-0 vs. Hamilton overall and 3-2-0-1 at Copps Coliseum… F Ben Maxwell has a goal in consecutive games…D Will O’Neill picked up his first fighting major of the season when he dropped the gloves with Andrew Crescenzi early in the third period of Sunday’s game. It was the second fight of O’Neill’s pro career… O’Neill recorded an assist for the second straight game and has six helpers over his last six games… The IceCaps surrendered six goals in their last meeting with the Bulldogs on Dec. 28, but have allowed just four goals total in the other three matchups this season… Bulldogs D Jason DeSantis, who was acquired by the Bulldogs in a trade with the San Antonio Rampage (Florida Panthers), spent 2011-12 with the IceCaps, playing in 66 games and notching 43 points (11G, 32A)… Bulldogs G Dustin Tokarski, acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning organization for G Cedrick Desjardins on Feb. 14, was shelled in his only game vs. St. John’s this season. BULLDOGS RECENT ACTION: Feb. 24: MIL 2 HAM 0 | The Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Copps Coliseum. Magnus Hellberg stopped 25 shots for the shutout and Juuso Puustinen scored the game-winner for the Admirals. After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs held the edge in shots by a count of 11-7. The Admirals opened the scoring at 12:41 of the second frame on a goal by Puustinen. Kevin Henderson chipped the puck towards the net from the top of the right circle and the shot was blocked in front. Puustinen picked up the rebound at the bottom of the right circle and roofed it by Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Dustin Tokarski. After 40 minutes of play, the ‘Dogs still held the edge in shots 18-16. Chris Mueller added an empty netter for Milwaukee at 19:51 of the third stanza to seal the deal for the Admirals.
