The St. John’s IceCaps (23-30-1-3, 50 PTS) look to bounce back against the Manchester Monarchs (25-24-3-3, 54 PTS) Saturday at Mile One Centre after a devastating shootout loss Friday night.

LAST NIGHT: MCH 5 STJ 4 (SO) | Eric O’Dell notched four points but it didn’t matter, as the IceCaps fell 5-4 to the Monarchs in a shootout Friday night at Mile One. Clinging to a 4-3 lead with less than a minute to go in regulation, Andy Andreoff scored his second of the game to send it to overtime and then to a shootout, where Martin Jones stopped four-of-five shooters and Jordan Weal and Colton Yellow Horn scored for Manchester. For St. John’s, O’Dell scored twice and added two assists and Kael Mouillierat recorded a goal and two assists, as well as the only IceCaps’ goal in the shootout. Patrice Cormier had a goal and an assist while Eddie Pasquale made 22 saves in his first start since being returned by the Winnipeg Jets.

His four-point effort tied a franchise high, set last season by Patrice Cormier and equaled last month by Kael Mouillierat. O’Dell has 11 points (6G, 5A) in his last seven games, while Mouillierat has 10 points (2G, 8A) in his last four contests… The IceCaps have scored three goals or more in six of their last eight games and four or more in four of their last six contests… The IceCaps have lost five straight games vs. the Monarchs at Mile One Centre dating back to last season. RECENT ACTION: FEB 24: POR 4 MCH 3 (OT) | The Manchester Monarchs earned five-of-six points last weekend but could not grab the sixth as they fell to the Portland Pirates, 4-3, in overtime in game nine of the VIP Cup, presented by VIP Parts, Tires and Service, at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Sunday afternoon.

QUICK HITS: MCH has won three of its last four games, recording at least a point in each contest… F Brandon Kozun has five multi-point games in his last seven games… F Tyler Toffoli saw his five-game point streak (5-3-8) snapped in a loss last Sunday but scored in last night’s win. Toffoli has six goals in six games vs. STJ this season… D Matt Case made his Monarchs debut last Sunday… Former IceCaps G Peter Mannino is 2-0-0 with a 1.46 GAA and a .944 SV% vs. STJ this season but is currently injured and did not make the trip… Forwards Linden Vey, Brandon Kozun and Tyler Toffoli have combined for 22 points in six games vs. STJ this year… D Chris Huxley participated in the IceCaps’ training camp in Corner Brook back in October. Huxley was a healthy scratch last night… F Andy Andreoff, who scored twice Friday including the tying goal with 43 seconds left in regulation,  scored his first professional goal with the Monarchs in a 4-2 victory against the St. John’s IceCaps on April 15, 2012… F Brian O’Neill made his professional debut against the St. John’s IceCaps on March 17, 2012… Former NHL defenceman and Boston Bruins general manager Mike O’Connell, Director of Pro Development for the Los Angeles Kings, was in attendance. O’Connell’s last visit to St. John’s was as head coach of the Providence Bruins back in the early 1990s.
