Bears Shade IceCaps 2-1 in Shootout Posted by Dave Salter on
Tyler Beskorowany was sterling once again in the IceCaps goal but was unrewarded as St. John’s lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Hershey Bears Saturday night at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
The shootout went a staggering 12 rounds before Tyson Strachan finally sealed the victory for the Bears.
After a scoreless first period, veteran Bears forward Jeff Taffe deposited a rebound in the crease at 1:25 of the second stanza. Kyle MacKinnon beat Bears netminder David Leggio at 6:30 of the middle frame to square the contest. MacKinnon deflected Ben Chiarot’s wrister from the point to post his ninth goal of the season. Patrice Cormier had the other assist.
The IceCaps return home to host the Springfield Falcons Friday night (7:30 PM NT). Catch all the action with broadcaster Brian Rogers on Rogers TV, www.stjohnsicecaps.com and 930 AM, or watch online at www.ahllive.com. Pregame show gets underway at 7:00.
