AHL Season Ticket Seat Selection Well Underway Posted by jac on

As the inaugural season of the new St. John’s American Hockey League (AHL) team approaches, preparations continue to welcome professional hockey back to the province.

After tremendous success with season ticket sales, the process of allowing hockey fans to personally select their season seats is now underway. This Sunday, July 24 the doors of Mile One Centre will open at 8:30 am to give individuals who have made a 3-year commitment the opportunity to personally select their season seats.

“The response for season tickets from the public has been extraordinary, but not at all surprising to me given the passionate hockey fan base we have here in the province,” said Danny Williams, franchise President and CEO. “We were particularly pleased to see the volume of 3-year season ticket commitments, as this signals to us as an organization and to the League that we will enjoy a strong, loyal relationship with the fans. Given our success with ticket sales to-date, we are already the envy of the League without having played one single game. This is a fantastic endorsement for our new team, and is an indication of the success that is to come. Now, we are giving fans the opportunity to come and personally select the seat that will be theirs for each and every action packed game.”

Although the response to-date has been significant, there are some season tickets still available for purchase.

“With approximately 4,700 season tickets spoken for already, time is running out for individuals wishing to enjoy the benefits of being a season ticket holder,” said Glenn Stanford, franchise COO. “We encourage fans to purchase their tickets before it is too late. Last week, we welcomed Keith McCambridge as our new head coach and you have to meet him just once to know that he will be leading a team that is skilled, determined and intense. As well, the roster is shaping up in such a way that I have every confidence we are going to put a great team on the ice. Fans will most certainly not be disappointed, so I encourage people to go to and secure tickets and get in on the action.”

Stanford said Mile One Centre will be full of energy on Sunday, as the fans will be able to see first hand which seats are already spoken for, and will then choose precisely the seats that will be theirs for the next 3 years. Fans will take a large label that will be provided to them and go directly to their seat and mark it as their own.

“It will be exciting to watch as the seats are carefully chosen by their owner,” said Mr. Stanford. “At the end of the day, we will be able to physically see by the labels exactly where folks will be seated. Then, in the following week we will start seat selections for those who have made 1 and 2-year commitments. And by July 31, you will see a substantial portion of Mile One spoken for. It is just another step in building momentum towards opening night when the house will be packed and the games will finally begin.”

Due to the magnitude of the work involved and the logistics of other events taking place at Mile One Centre, team officials allotted the full month of July to complete the seat selection process. Mile One Centre box office staff have already contacted individuals based on their level of priority as outlined during the season ticket sale process. Previous hot seat, St. John’s Maple Leaf and Fog Devil ticket holders with a 3-year commitment have already confirmed their seat selections. On Sunday, all new season ticket holders who have made a 3-year commitment will choose their seats personally at Mile One Centre. Fans have been informed by box office staff of the approximate time their seat selection will occur, as the process is based upon precisely when tickets were confirmed online. Those unable to make it in person will have made alternate arrangements with box office staff to ensure priority is maintained.

Any individual who made a 3-year commitment and has not yet been contacted by Mile One Centre regarding Sunday’s event are asked to call the Box Office before Sunday, July 24 at 709.576.7657, or toll free at 1.855.790.1245.

The next round of seat selections will take place from July 26 – July 30 when previous St. John’s Maple Leafs, Fog Devils or current Hot Seat owners who have made 1 or 2-year commitments will be contacted to select seats. Finally, on July 31, new season ticket owners who have made 1 and 2-year commitments will be welcomed to Mile One Centre to choose their seats.

Again, if individuals are unable to make it to Mile One Centre on July 31, box office staff will make alternate arrangements to ensure priority is maintained.
